A Notary is a qualified lawyer - a member of the oldest branch of the legal profession in the United Kingdom - who authenticates documents destined for overseas jurisdictions. Notaries are appointed by the Court of Faculties of the Archbishop of Canterbury and regulated by the Master of the Faculties (a High Court judge).
Today, there are 680 notaries public in England and Wales. They constitute a separate and distinct legal profession.
I passed the Legal Practice Course at university in Leeds and subsequently qualified in notarial practice at University College, London. I have a Masters in Translation from the University of Hull and can handle documents in French, Italian and Spanish.
I now work as a full-time Notary Public in Hull and East Yorkshire.
